Simulated Workplace

The Mercer County Technical Education Center participates fully in the Simulated Workplace program. Through the Simulated Workplace initiative, students will be immersed within an engaging workplace environment, which offers support in addition to rigorous training while developing the necessary skill sets to be a next generation work ready employee.


Students learn about the importance of employee work ethics, safety, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service through simulated workplace participation. Our goal and vision is to give students a true working experience by holding them accountable for their choices and actions, just as they would be held accountable in the workplace.


The Simulated Workplace initiative has been designed in partnership with various West Virginia businesses and industries. MCTEC has developed program standards, safety measures, protocols and certifications to align with those of industry expectations.
