Certified Nursing Assistant ACE
Part-Time Evening Program
The Certified Nursing Assistant Advanced Career Education (ACE) program is designed to prepare students for employment as a certified nursing assistant in the state of West Virginia. The program is designed to prepare qualified individuals to be safe, caring, and effective nursing assistants, who work under the supervision of qualified health care professionals. CNA’s are trained to perform at a minimum entry level in positions normally available in hospitals, nursing homes, and home health agencies. This course presents basic nursing assistant principals, as well as providing opportunities for practice and demonstration of skills related to patient care. The students time will be divided between classroom instruction, laboratory time and supervised experience in the nursing home and/or hospital settings. Students satisfactorily completing this career major will be eligible to sit for certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of West Virginia.
Instruction and career training consists of 270 hours completed in 38 weeks. The adult part-time Certified Nursing Assistant ACE program is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE).
Courses begin October 4, 2021 and will end June 21, 2022. The program follows the Mercer County Schools calendar. Classes are held Monday & Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
After Program completion, students are eligible to sit for the West Virginia Certification Exam for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
9108A Certified Nursing Assistant
This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to become certified to perform personal care skills for patients/residents in the nursing home, assisted-living center and the hospital under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The course includes subject matter and experiences in the classroom and clinical setting that lead to a recognized credential as a certified nursing assistant.
9068A Science Clinical Experience
This course is designed to be used in conjunction with a Health Science Education course that includes a clinical specialization experience. Instructional content focuses on extending career preparation and technical skills associated with a previously selected clinical specialization.
